Harvest Prediction Model: Location Selection

Growing Degree Hours (GDH) is a useful measurement to predict harvest timing and help determine the timing of fruit thinning. The following pages help generate GDH30 calculations for an area of your choosing, and then guide you through using these numbers to predict the date of this year's harvest.

GDH are provided from February 1 through May 31 - the usual bloom period (+ 30 days) for peaches, plums, and nectarines. Hourly temperatures are downloaded nightly for more than 100 CIMIS weather stations.

To retrieve daily and historical growing degree hours select a station name below. Then enter bloom dates for this year and previous years if the information is available. Note the final GDH30 figures generated by the model for use for calculations on subsequent pages.

If you need information about the location of a station, select a county name. A county map will be displayed, showing this symbol red circle to designate a CIMIS weather station.
