Biography
I began my career as a UCCE Farm Advisor in El Dorado and Amador Counties in the fall of 2000, after working several years as a UC staff researcher on IPM projects in the Monterey and Ventura County UCCE offices. My previous work experience also includes lab work creating monoclonal antibodies for a sugarbeet fungus in the USDA lab in Salinas; and assisting with conversion studies from conventional to organic agriculture in apples, artichokes and strawberries for the UCSC Agroecology program.
From 2000-2007 the emphasis of my research as a Farm Advisor in the foothills has been on pest management in tree fruits, primarily codling moth control strategies. In 2007 my program responsibilities shifted to include wine grapes as well.
In 2011, El Dorado and Amador counties joined Calaveras and Tuolumne counties to form a UCCE multi-county partnership. My current work as Farm Advisor for this region emphasizes viticulture production and IPM, while continuing to assist the tree fruit and Christmas tree growers in the area.
