2020 Varieties and Selections Report

2020 Varieties and Selections Report by the Almond Board of California

To summarize years of research in almond breeding, the Almond Board of California put together a comprehensive report in 2020. This report is a compilation of decades of work, nationally and internationally, across the almond industry.

Nut Quality

The following figures are from the Almond Varieties and Selections report by the Almond Board of California. The following four figures display comparative nut quality characteristics of the RVT Varieties and Selections. Please note the inclusion of USDA variety 'Yorizane' under the name Y116-161-99. UC Davis varieties 'Winters', 'Sweetheart', and 'Kester' are included by name. Evaluators note that the interaction between 'Kester' and 'Hansen' rootstock is still being investigated.

Crack out percentage RVT

Crack-out percent calculated for each selection or variety in the RVT. Adjusted means were calculated for the four years of data collection (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) over three locations (Stanislaus, Madera, Butte).

Percent sealed calculated for each selection or variety in the RVT. Adjusted means were calculated for the four years of data collection (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) over three locations (Stanislaus, Madera, Butte).

Yield Characteristics

The following figures are from the Almond Varieties and Selections report by the Almond Board of California. The following three figures display comparative yield characteristics of the RVT Varieties and Selections at each of the three trial locations.
